The Classic Star Wars is beloved today, by those who watched it in the theaters when it first came out, and those that discovered it on DVD. Star Wars Fans are loyal.
EVERYTHING STAR WARS is GREAT!
Ten year olds who love Star Wars got together in 1978 to make a short remake of their favorite film - Star Wars: A New Hope.
Customs were made of old sheets, paper and plastic, and whatever is found around the house. Cans of spray paint added the needed color. Black and Gold mostly, for Darth Vader and CP3O. D2D2 built by a friend is a nice added touch. All and all, not bad for a bunch of kids.
Star Wars: NO HOPE, the remake, is worth a viewing. Look for the color markers on the 8mm film to give the lightsabers their glow. "May the Force Be With You."
Classic Film - Great Fun - Wonderful Stuff
The characters, in NO HOPE, are played by neighbors, and relatives with no acting experience. The set is a half built attic. And the Death Star, well, that consisted of some lumber found in the garage, and some left over parts.
The X-Wing Fights are primative, made of plastic cigar holders. The strings holding them up as they travel across the black night sky are still visible. The other ships are built with lego logs, yes that is true. You need to see for yourself. Great stuff.
There is a great charm to the over all short film. In this remake, there is blood. There is passion for the original film. Unfortunatly, the 8mm film is small and does not hold up well. So when watching, realize after time the print is old and the projector spit out the film at times.
All and all Star Wars: NO HOPE is everything a child would put into a remake. Take note: Darth Vader is shorter then all the other characters. After the helmit was made, it only fit the littlest person around. So Darth Vader had to be small...Oops!
